Windows Update and Secure Website Issues
July 31st, 2007 | by LocalTech |I have rencently been getting quite a few issues regarding Windows Updates failing to install or download with error numbers such as 0×8007041D, 0×80040111, 0×80070020 and many more. It also fixes issues where you are unable to install more than 30 updates, unable to access secure websites and Windows Genuine Advantage issues.
To make my life and everyone elses easier, I have created a batch file compiled with most common steps you should take when it comes to re-registering DLL files and renaming folders available at both the Microsoft Support website and Forums throughout the web. The file was made for Windows XP so I don’t think it will work on Vista.
The batch file does many of the common troubleshooting steps including restarting Windows Update services, Renaming SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folders etc…
I do encourage you to try it out the batch if you are facing any of the following issues:
- Failing installation of Windows Updates
Unable to access certain websites or security websites
Windows Genuine Advantage issues
Internet Explorer or Outlook issues
*NOTE* This file is still under testing so use it at your own risk…
The ZIP file contains the batch file and a text file. The text file contains all of the commands that are running on the batch file, so if you have any suggestion on how I can improve the file or any errors while running it please do add a comment here and I will try to improve it…
