If I Die Facebook App
In the old days, people used to leave wills for their friends and family by recording it on a video and passing it to their attorney or someone they trusted, but this is the 21st century so we like to do things a little different. Introducing the “If I die” app on Facebook, an app that allows your Facebook account to continue posting messages for your friends and family to read.
How does it work?
After installing the app, it allows you to set either a message or record a video of your last words. Then you would set three people to be your “trustees” who can report your death when you leave this planet. According to the website, no one (not even your trustees) can see your message until you die and it is posted – so you’re free to lash out and do whatever you feel you need to.
What are the limitations?
Well, from what I see so far in their FAQ section, it seems like it is still in development. They have listed the following items as future features:
- Leaving multiple messages
- Videos up to 5 minutes
- Leaving personal messages
Many would assume this app is a joke, but if you stop to think about it, it could help with a lot of closure for your friends and family. It would definitely be a challenge to many to write record their last words – where do you begin? What do you say? There are just so many things to say and all in the short span of time might be a little bit overwhelming. Still, this idea is not one you should knock down so easily, and possibly give it a go.
