Windows 8.1 – Not Detecting Third Monitor

Well I finally installed Windows 8.1, and although I finally got used to not having the Start button around, I’m not really going to complain about its return.

So the first problem I came across was that my third monitor was not working/detected.

My third monitor uses a DVI to miniDP converter, so I have a miniDP, HDMI and DVI connection setup on my desktop.

In order to resolve this issue all I had to do was remove all the monitor cables from the graphics card, and connect the each one by themselves using their original connectors.

In this case, I removed the DVI to miniDP converter, and just connected the third monitor using its DVI connector РWindows was able to detect it and install the driver.

Following that I just plugged in all the cables as they were, and voila – three working monitors on Windows 8.1

Hope that helps someone down the line ūüôā
